About Emma

Originally from Bristol and now living and working in Brighton I took an early interest in art and began drawing at a young age, greatly inspired by nature and the landscape around me. 

Of course life can (and did) get in the way and after far too long a hiatus I have recently returned to art. I am self taught; drawing and painting in oil from close observation and the study of painting. I now live in Seven Dials, Brighton, the prefect place to be inspired by the fabulous artists and makers based here, the renowned Artists Open Houses festival, galleries and exhibitions.

The natural world is still at the heart of my art work, the beauty of form in small things, a still life or portrait study, a garden view or a sweeping Lake District landscape. Light and colour and reflections. I am rarely happier than when I am on top of a Cumbrian peak or beside a lake on a bright breezy day.
